    Juvenile Justice Training Program Revision for the Montana Board of Crime Control

    As part of its training program, the Montana Law Enforcement Academy, located in Bozeman, Montana, trained state law officials in juvenile procedures, and also conducted statewide workshops for other state employees who had contact with juvenile offenders. When the MLEA Director of the Juvenile Justice Program retired in June, 1985, the Board of Crime Control felt the Juvenile Justice Program could be better administered out of the Board’s offices in Helena and thus arranged for the transfer. The Juvenile Justice Program was to be reviewed and reorganized during the Sumner of 1985 so that the new trainer, when hired in September, 1985, could implement this newly revised Juvenile Justice Program beginning January 1, 1986

    Exploring the Impact of a Clinical Decision Support Tool from the Perspective of Service Users & Carers

    This study was part of an evaluation of a Clinical Decision Support Tool (CDST) which was developed as the basis for the Integrated Packages Approach to Care (InPac) model for adult mental health services in South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust (SWYMHT). The study investigated the use of the CDST and its potential impact on service users and carers through the standardisation of patient’s needs assessments and care packages. Focus groups for service users and carers were held to discuss their perspective of the impacts of the CDST in routine use. Thematic analysis of the group discussions suggests that service users and carers believe the CDST has some potential benefits for service users, carers and staff, yet to date, it has had little direct impact on service users. The study identified a number of areas where service users and carers believed the tool could be improved in order to increase its effectiveness in routine clinical practice

    Relationship Between Nurses’ Perceptions of Work Environment and Intent to Stay

    Health systems in the United States face a growing shortage of nurses to provide care, including home health agencies looking for approaches to improve retention and reduce attrition. The work environment across all health delivery systems plays a critical role in nurse retention. Studies show increased attrition when nurses perceive their work environment as hostile. This quantitative correlational study guided Watson’s theory of human caring. It explored the relationship between home health nurses’ perceptions of their work environment and their intent to stay in their current position. Archival data from a convenience sample obtained from an extensive multistate multiservice health system’s 2021 survey of employees who work in home health care were selected for this study. The sample included 620 home health nurses; however, the final sample after removal of those not meeting inclusion criteria was 366 home health nurses. Anonymized data were analyzed using binomial logistic regression analysis. Results of the study indicated employee engagement (p =.011) and work-life balance (p = .001) were statistically significant predictors of nurses’ intent to stay in their current jobs. The findings of this study may promote positive social change as health systems facilitate effective strategic retention programs. Work-life balance and employee engagement should be investigated, as both are significant predictors of intent to stay
